Through the support of individuals , congregations, and groups, DisciplesWorld magazine continues the rich tradition of independent journalism for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

An Annual Fund was promoted for the first time in 2005. The response was encouraging and demonstrated a wide range of support for the magazine. The second Annual Fund in 2006 was also a success. The 2007 annual fund surpassed its goal of $195,000. We are grateful to the more than 850 individuals and groups who chose to support DisciplesWorld financially in 2007.

The goal of the 2008 Annual Fund campaign — $200,000 — will make possible the continuation of the denomination’s premier source of information and inspiration.

DisciplesWorld receives income from three sources. Paid subscriptions account for 36 percent of the 2008 budget. Advertising and the sale of related products account for 32 percent, and gifts comprise 32 percent. DisciplesWorld receives no denominational “mission” dollars. Every year since incorporation in 2002, DisciplesWorld has significantly decreased its operational deficit. By 2007, however, all start-up reserves had been depleted and the corporation faced a difficult cash flow crisis. The continuing generous and creative response of DisciplesWorld contributors helped the corporation turn that corner and end the year with a minimal operational deficit.

Now, in 2008, DisciplesWorld celebrates its sixth anniversary of publishing on a much stronger financial footing than ever before. And yet, we still rely heavily on annual fund giving. We hope you will consider making a gift to support excellent and faithful journalism in the Disciples tradition today.
